Snow Baby

Chloe played (sat) in the snow that covered her back yard. This week, she finally acted like she enjoyed some baby food. She swallowed green peas and for the first time she ate several spoonfuls in a row. She continues to enjoy sleeping without being strapped to the wedge. She drags the covers over her face and wraps it around her legs. She loves snuggling with a blanket. The increased therapy wears her out and she shows her displeasure during the hard work.

Slept in her own room!

Chloe spent last night in her own room in her crib for the first time. Both Chloe and her mother slept well! Another first is sitting in the cart at Walmart!

Big Girl Bath

Chloe has a big-girl bathtub! In the last update I forgot to mention that she has very little reflux any more and isn't taking any medication! Feeding is still time consuming but much more enjoyable for not only Chloe, but also for Mom and Dad! She visited with us this weekend and all her actions seem much more deliberate. She knows who is and isn't in the room and interacts with everyone. She loves to sit up and bounces some. She is facing new physical therapy for several issues. One is that she favors turning her head to one side. Even though she sits up ahead of schedule, she doesn't put any weight on her legs or arms. Mom and Dad not only have to do painful neck stretches with her at home, but also have been instructed to push her over so she will learn to catch herself with her arms. She'll get a report next week from the recent physical therapy testing.

No more wedge

Chloe now sleeps without the wedge and wakes up happy to squirm around and play. She can now roll from her back to her tummy and sits without any bobbles. Her mom reports that Chloe is ready to ride in a Walmart cart instead of staying in her carseat. Her chin and jaw have grown just as the doctors predicted and she continues to learn to swallow baby food (occasionally!). Physical therapy is being added to the occupational therapy visits. She favors one side so she needs to be forced to move her head to the other side. She still wears her splints and her ability to grab, hold, and throw toys improves. Our precious baby will be 8 months old this week!
